The results of the research on the collection of digestible protein, its content in a feed unit in the mixed sowings of maize for silage with high-protein components are given. The importance of the mixed sowings of maize for silage with high-protein components is not only that they form a high yield of feed units, but also a significant increase in the collection of feed protein, which ensures the feed unit balance and reduces the over-consumption of fodders. Many scientists indicate that the mixed sowings of maize for silage with high-protein components provide the increased yield of digestible protein within the range of 18-25%, compared to pure maize sowings. Due to the high value of feed protein for livestock breeding, we conducted a study on the digestible protein collection and its content in the feed unit in the mixed sowings of maize for silage with high-protein components. Presently in the animal feed balance, protein deficiency is at least 30%. The summarized data and calculations show that for balanced feeding of animals it is necessary to increase the protein content of maize silage by at least 20%. By laying silos it is possible to eliminate this gap by mixing the green mass of maize with the green mass of high-protein feed crops.
