The leguminous grain-producing plants: soy, peas, kidney, chick peas, lentils, pulses, cowpea, peanuts are the product of human activity being used in food and foraging for a long time. The seeds are the main source of cheap and valuable protein, carbohydrates, fats, fibre, vitamins, minerals etc. The importance of leguminous plants for grains is exposed, as well as the achievements in improvement and the current situation of the given cultures in Moldova.
