The challenge of the development of the retail electricity markets competition in order to improve the efficiency of electric power industry in Russia has considered. The modern Russian retail electricity markets model does not provide the adequate level of competition in retail energy sales sector has revealed. This article studies specific features of the Russian retail electricity markets organization. The level of competition in retail energy sales sector and the competition impact to the retail electricity prices have estimated. The competition prohibiting factors for retail electricity markets have suggested.
