Resumo: Este artigo tem por intuito realizar uma reflexão articulada das várias dimensões e/ou facetas que compõem o complexo mundo institucional, especificamente o da Escola de formação de professoras ruralistas no estado do Ceará, nas décadas de 1930 a 1940. Para além do espaço restrito à instituição escolar, realiza-se análises sobre a intrínseca relação entre ideal de formação feminina, família e sociedade no período do Estado Novo. O cerne da questão aqui analisada é a busca do entendimento sobre o ideal de professora e de educação feminina subjacentes à proposta de formação docente proposta pelas escolas normais rurais, no âmbito do estado do Ceará, em um momento de intensos debates sobre educação, nacionalismo e desenvolvimento econômico. Neste contexto de efervescência nacionalista, intenta-se compreender em que consistiam as suas visões de educação, papel da mulher na sociedade e perfil de educadora, presentes nas intrincadas relações entre Estado, família e formação docente.
