INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: EXPLORATORY STUDY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE STUDENT
Abstract
Institutions of higher education as a substantive role in teaching and research. However, they can not be separated from the commitment to be assumed to solving regional issues, particularly in relation to environmental problems caused mainly by climate change. That is why, carried out this research in order to identify the student perspective on the commitment to sustainable development. To do this, use was made of applying a quantitative methodology based on the proposal of Chilean Universities Network Build Country instrument. The main findings show that the University of the West contributes in the field of sustainable development, forming integral professionals aware not only of the environmental problems facing society but are trained in self-care.
