A combined mechanism which can realize constant speed reciprocating motion of its follower is presented. The mechanism is composed of a pair of non-circular gears and a sine mechanism in series. When the driving gear rotates at the fixed speed, the constant-velocity reciprocating motion of the follower in the sinusoidal mechanism can be strictly realized. An inverse kinematic design method is researched to determine the pitch curves of the non-circular gears according to the constant speed reciprocating motion of the follower and different pitch curves of the non-circular gears are obtained. All these works prove that the combined mechanism can be effectively realized the uniform motion of the follower. The combined mechanism can be widely used in the main drive systems of the machines that need to realize the constant speed motion accurately and transfer high power such as the reciprocating fatigue testing machine, shock absorber tester with mechanical transmission mechanism, etc.
