Prospects for economic cooperation of companies of the Russian Federation and Germany in terms of sanctions

Abstract

. Since spring 2014 the Russian and German businesses have been cooperating in the conditions of mutual sanctions of the EU, the USA and Russia. All participants have multibilliondollar losses, primarily on the national economies the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Germany. From the point of view of the goal-setting of Western sanctions they did not achieve the objectives set and turned out to be meaningless. The political leaders of Russia has not changed its foreign and domestic policy. The EU is ready to change sanctions in case of progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements but this is hampered by Ukraine. Since 2018 the sanctions pressure of the USA which it exercises under the CAATSA Act, has sharply increased. In the risk zone of American extraterritorial sanctions are German companies cooperating with leading Russian concerns. The author considers economic cooperation between Russia and Germany in the context of increasing Western sanctions and draws conclusions about the prospects for cooperation between German and Russian business
