Sustaunable Rural Economic Development in Vietnam Today

Abstract

This study aims at analyzing comparative advantages of the sector of intensive black-tiger prawn farming in the area of the Mekong Delta (MD). Through direct survey with 292 prawn cultivating farmers in the form of intensive farming and analytical methods using Domestic Resource Cost (DRC), research results showed that prawn production in the form of intensive farming in the Mekong Delta has comparative advantages. That is the more this model is developed, the more foreign currency the economy obtain, which will enhance the income of households involved and solve social problems in an indirect way.
