This article approaches the experience of the improvement course in “Education of the field: pedagogical practices” developed within the scope of the School of the Earth Program (Pronacampo) worked by the Federal University of Amazonas in the municipality of São Sebastião of Uatumã/AM. The objective of the research is to investigate the trajectories adopted, during the activities of the improvement course, by the trainers and course teachers and present the results achieved. The methodological procedures involved bibliographic and field research, whose discussions were based on the context of the Amazonian field, pedagogical practices oh the teachers and the academic productions of the teachers of the course - highlighting the conditions given by the covid-19 pandemic to the basic education network of that municipality and to the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) in offering continuous training to rural teachers. Even with the setbacks of educational policies at the national level, we highlight the School of the Earth Program in the training of rural teachers in the state of Amazonas, and more specifically in São Sebastião of Uatumã as fundamental in the construction of the counter-hegemonic praxis of the rural educator in the Brazilian Amazon.
