Study and Cause Analysis of the Erosion Wear of Super Vortex Quick Separation System Based on CFD

As wall wear is an important factor for the failure of Super Vortex Quick Separation System (SVQS), the study of wear is of great significance in improving its service life. In this work, based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) research method, the internal flow field of SVQS system was coupled by Fluent software, and the wall wear of the system was numerically simulated using the DPM erosion model. Through the numerical analysis, the main wear parts of the system wall were determined to be the cyclone arm, the position on the wall near the jet outlet, the middle and lower part of the settlement section, the top of the riser and the position of the isolate cylinder baffle; the system speed and wear map were gained; and the causes of wear on the wall of the quick separation system as well as the factors that might affect the wear were preliminarily analyzed with the help of wear distribution law. Besides, the accuracy and reliability of the numerical simulation results were verified through a comparison to the actual wear condition of the SVQS system having isolate cylinders and coverplates and used in indurial applications.
