On some aspects of “mnemonic confrontation" on Ukraine. Reflections on the text by James Westsch

Abstract

The paper presents the comment on the publication of the translation of the article of James Wertsch in the journal "Slavic Studies". The article is dedicated to the analysis of historical aspects of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and appeared in this respect confrontation of Russia and a number of developed countries of Euro-Atlantic. Some conclussions of Jm.Verch regarding the historical-mental conditionality of political decisions as well as the proposition to discuss the role of narrative tools in the Russian mnemonic community are supported. Some aspects of history of Russian-Ukrainian relations are specified and an appropriate discussion is proposed to be transfered from political to academic level
