The practice of burning of sugar cane has been discussed by the agricultural society, public sector and industry at the expense of some labor and environmental issues. As a solution to this issue, the mechanical harvesting became the unique possible option to avoid burning and for legal issues was imposed on farmers. In this sense, the study discussed the problem of cane burning and mechanized harvesting in the fields of Sertaozinho’s region under the legal aspects and questioned the impact generated by mechanization in the quality of raw material. Sertãozinho region was used as a case study and the information was obtained through the sugarcane suppliers association from this region. It was concluded that the sugarcane suppliers failed to collect the amount of 384 million and the plant stopped producing 493,000 tonnes of white sugar that could be absorbed by the market, as well as reflected in hydrous ethanol, and 205,000 cubic meters were not produced, thus the data denote that the financial consequences of productivity with mechanized harvesting are under the burned harvest.
