Représentations idéologiques et réalités langagières : le cas du kurde

Abstract

Can the functional tripartition "Badume-Standard-Norm", developed on the basis of the sociolinguistic situation of Western Brittany, account for the sociolinguistic situation of Turkish Kurdistan? It is difficult to answer this question categorically, as the verification of this tripartition is still in progress, and work on the sociolinguistic situation of the region is almost non-existent. However, based on our empirical knowledge of the situation as well as the ongoing work of our thesis, which is concerned with the study of the designation of Kurdish people, territory and language in Turkish political discourse, we propose in this paper to provide some initial study materials and preliminary reflections.
