Science and culture for nature in the Botanical Gardens of the ”Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași

Abstract

The paper synthesizes the 165 long history of the Botanical Garden of Iași, since its foundation, in the year 1865, by Anastasie Fătu, reputed naturalist, following its developments along the years, the successes recorded and the difficulties its organizers and staff had to face. Special stress is laid on the education and research offer of the Garden for students and young researchers, as well as the on the facilities available to its visitors. A special section is dedicated to the managers of the Botanical Garden, to their achievements and the improvements brought about.
