In the northern part of the Spiš-Gemerské Rudohorie Mts. evaporite facies occurs in the Nová Ves Formation. The evaporite horizon was described at the level of zero storey at the Spišská Nová Ves – Nová Štôlòa deposit. The horizon is open by a strip pit Šafárka and also in the NW part of the Markušovce valley. In 2003-2004 structural – tectonic evaluation of the gypsum – anhydrite deposit of Šafárka was done in the framework of geological prospection etape. The results show that the mutual structural – tectonic position of the Upper Permian Nová Ves formation and Lower Triassic formations (Silica Nappe of the Silicicum tectonic unit) is unconformable.
