The World Health Organization defines the battered child syndrome as every form of physical and/or emotional mistreatment, sexual abuse, abandonment or negligent treatment, exploitation with a commercial aim or of any other type, resulting in a real or potential damage to health, survival, development and dignity of children in the context of a responsible, confident or proxy relationship. This study presents the case of a 2-year-old male transitional patient who was taken to the emergency room dead and with multiple lesions in the body from different dates. There was a history of leaving hospitalization four days ago. Necropsy was performed finding multiple signs of violence on inner and outer examination of the body. A conclusion of violent death is reached as a case of battered child syndrome, with child abuse produced by action, in its variant of physical mistreatment.
