Nubentes e mobilidade geográfica em Portugal no século XIX (1800-1830): o concelho de Marvão

Abstract

This article studies the nuptiality of the council of Marvão between 1800 and 1830. The parochial sources are the main empirical material for this study, using a quantitative methodology, which allows us to make the study of family’ behavior. By one hand, the number and the type of marriages and remarriages are analysed; and, on the other, we studied the geographical mobility, by sex and marital status. The final aim of this article is the analysis of the nuptiality regarding the mobility of widowers and of single spouses in a short, medium and long distance.
