This article establishes a series of dialogues between the genre children's literature and two historical trajectories that define its inauguration: the period of its European origin (in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries) and the boom period of the production in Brazil (in the 60’s and 70’s). Although distanced by the time and space in which they are restricted, the periods approximate for their inaugural content, allowing the construction of basic concepts about children's literature and its understanding as childly literary discourse grounded by the diversity of production and problems of its nomination as a textgenre.
