Ancient Tamil people lived by nature and saw the beauty underlying it and worshipped it and named it Murugan which means beauty. People led a life in harmony with nature by worshipping and worshipping Lord Murugan through nature. In Sangam hymns, the Vel weapon also prevailed in worship as a form of Murugan. The worshipers of Murugan in the Sangam period worshipped the Lord with some requests in front of him. They worshipped Murugan so that the leader and the leader could live in harmony, for the health of the leader and the birth of a child so that the leader would not be disturbed by any harm. Tamil literature records the tradition of venerating Murugan as the Tamil God. Various records of this God have existed since ancient times. History points to the tradition of calling Muruga by different names at different times. Each name of Murugan has a long history. The name originated following the Aryan tradition and the Dravidian tradition. All the names of Murugan appearing in the Sangam literature are derived from the Dravidian tradition root words from ancient Tamil. Later, the names of Murugan were changed based on the Aryan tradition. The word Murugan means a young and beautiful Lord. Murugan, who has a beautiful face and a noble appearance, is the form of mercy, the God of Kandha who wipes away the sufferings of those who take refuge in him; the Vadivela who takes care of revenge, Murugan is called Seyon of the red-haired man. Witnesses call him the Tamil God because he was Subhaiyan who taught his father. Among the four types of land, Kurinji is the chief land where Murugan is worshipped as the God of this land because it is a hilly place. Murugan worship has existed since the Tamil language culture was mature. The main point of this article is to highlight names of God Murugan from Sangam Literature.
