Deficiencias de los componentes de las vías de activación clásica y alternativa del sistema del complemento Deficiencies of the components of the classic and alternative activation pathways of the complement system
Abstract
Las deficiencias congénitas de los componentes individuales de las vías clásica y alternativa del sistema del complemento, dan lugar a un conjunto de enfermedades de frecuencia relativamente baja. Las personas con deficiencias en estas funciones muestran una susceptibilidad elevada a las infecciones piógenas recurrentes por microorganismos que habitualmente son eliminados por fagocitosis y, en algunos casos, se asocian con enfermedades autoinmunes. Cuando las deficiencias del complemento comprometen la formación del complejo de ataque a la membrana, asociado con la lisis de las bacterias fuera de los fagocitos, los pacientes también tienen aumentado el riesgo de infectarse con Neisseria . Se describen las características clínicas y moleculares que caracterizan a los defectos presentes en los componentes de las vías de activación clásica y alternativa del sistema del complementoThe congenital deficiencies of the individual components of the classic and alternative pathways of the complement system give rise to a group of diseases of relatively low frequency. The persons with deficiencies in these functions show an elevated susceptibility to recurrent pyogenic infections due to microorganisms that are usually eliminated by phagocytosis and, in some cases, they are connected with autoimmune diseases. When the complement deficiencies involve the formation of the complex of attack to the membrane, associated with the lysis of the bacteria out of the phagocytes, the patients' risks to get infected with Neisseria increase. The clinical and molecular features characterizing the defects present in the components of the classic and alternative activation pathways of the complement system are also described
