AN ELASTIC-PLASTIC STRESS ANALYSIS IN CANTILEVER BEAMS SUBJECTED TO TRANSVERSE LINEARLY DISTRIBUTED LOAD
Abstract
In this study, an elasto-plastic stress analysis is carried out for a cantilever beam subjected to linearly distributed load. In this solution, 1045 C steel is used. The Von Mises theory is used as a yield criterion. In the elasto-plastic solution, the material is assumed to be perfectly plastic. The yielding begins at the upper and lower surfaces of the beam at the same distances from the free end. The intensity of residual stress component of ?x is maximum at the upper and lower surfaces, however residual stress component of xy? is zero and maximum the upper and lower surfaces and on the x axis of the beam, respectively. The intensity of obtained the residual stress components of ?x and xy ? are given as Tables.
