The documentary "Installations - Rituals" [Instalações-Rituais], produced in 2010, shows devotion to the holy healer and non-canonical São João Maria in 12 southern cities of Paraná and Santa Catarina North, known as Region of Contestado. The film was screened in several cities, for different audiences: healers and consultants in Universities for anthropologists and students, for artists, educators and the general public, in congress of Anthropology like IX RAM and 28ª RBA (Prize nominee Pierre Verger) and national festival films, as the Mostra Internacional do Filme Etnográfico do Rio de Janeiro (2011) and Festival do Filme Etnográfico de Recife (2011). Most of these views were followed by discussions which the receivers could expose your understandings of the film, before such experiments it was revealed that the research was not ending in your goal, which brought new contributions. With this, viewers were not only receptors and became mediators. This article intends to do "an ethnography of reception" while overcoming the notion of receiver as a liability, utilizing the concepts of "mediation" by Gilberto Velho and "mediations" by Jesús Martín-Barbero.
