Immigrazione e contesa politico-religiosa nella Prima Repubblica: la Cappella di Sant’Antonio dei poveri a Ribeirão Preto

Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss the role carreied out by Saint Anthony in the clashes between Portuguese-Brazilian and ultramontanism catholicism in Ribeirão Preto, S.P. from St. Anthony’s Chapel localized in the quarter once known as Barracão. So that, as well as undrestanding the Portuguese-Brazilian and ultramontanism catholicism, the roles of portuguese and italian nationalism could also be seen in the midst of the catholic church reform process in Brazil during The First Republic.
