Les établissements mégariens de la Propontide et du Pont-Euxin : réseaux, solidarités et liens institutionnels
Abstract
The article deals in the first place with the foundation of the Megarian settlements of the Propontis and the Black Sea and with the colonizing “networks” which the Megarians managed to create in those areas. It then approaches the issue of the nomima (customs) of Megara extant in the Propontic and Pontic cities. The inscriptions and the narratives of the antique authors actually attest that the political institutions, the pantheon and the calendar of the colonies are in most cases modelled on those of Megara. It is likewise to be observed that a typically Megarian anthroponimy also appears in the colonies. The presentation of the whole of those transfers enables us better to grasp the complexity of the megarian movement of colonization as well as the institutional links between Megara and her colonies in Antiquity.
