Exploring the Relationship between First-Year EFL Vocabulary Development and reading Comprehension at Tlemcen University
Abstract
Abstract: This paper is a theoretical attempt, in a cohesive essay, which tries first to deal with the nature of the research problem in addition to its objectives and significance. Then, gradually exposing a literature review where the main key concept and notions are defined and discussed. Thus, it delves into the main aspects of the reading process and explores the relationship between reading skill and vocabulary knowledge in terms of pedagogical implications. Moreover, the next sections outline the general debate among different language scholars and educationalists concerning the influence of vocabulary learning and comprehending a written text. Finally, the last part includes personal comments and discussions on both views, addressed for both teachers and learners, as a remedial conception to support vocabulary development for a better reading comprehension in an ELT setting.
