"Application of solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber FX 5021 and FX 3211 in tread compound of tire"

Abstract

The dispersion of fillers，physical and mechanical properties and dynamic mechanical properties of vulcanizates were investigated using two grades of solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) FX 5021 and FX 3211 as matrix materials and silica as reinforcing fillers. The results showed that the silica in FX 5021 compound had better dispersion, and the curing rate of FX 5021 compound was slower. FX 5021 vulcanizate had higher tensile strength and modulus, while FX 3211 vulcanizate had higher tear strength, resilience and abrasion resistance. FX 5021 vulcanizate had higher wet skid resistance and rolling resistance.
