Abstract

The conference “The court and the sciences: birth of science policies in European courts in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries”, was held over three days – three days of hard work with almost twenty extensive papers and multiple questions and discussions. I won’t add to the presentations. However, despite the diversity and richness of the issues, I will try to show that, while making a point, it is vital to continue to reflect, extend and deepen. In short, it seems that certain questions have been asked, and correctly asked, but it is important now, when science policy plays a central role in our society, to engage with determination in the work of reflection and synthesizing, work that can contribute to the development of a forward-looking discourse. How to lead science policy?
