CONCEPT AND BASIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FUNCTIONAL SEMANTIC FIELD OF COMPARISON
Abstract
Relevance. This article proposes the analysis of the functional-semantic comparison field as a language implementation of the semantic comparison category. Objective. To determine the characteristics of semantics, structure and means of formal expression functional semantic field of comparison. Methodology. The methodology for studying the functional-semantic comparison field is based on the provisions of the functional grammar and methods for studying the functions of units at different levels of the language proposed by A.V. Bondarko. Results. The functional-semantic comparison field is based on the semantic comparison category and is a heterogeneous system consisting of elements at different levels of the language, interrelated and interdependent and performing a common function: a description of the comparative relationships between objects, phenomena, signs, and reality processes. Semantic dominants of field are the values of similarities, differences and identities. The field structure is traditional for monocentric fields and splits into three functional spheres: the core, the main part and the periphery. The core of the field is the form of degrees of comparison of adjectives and adverbs. Conclusions. The study allowed to determine the leading signs of the functional-semantic comparison field, semantic variations of field, structure.
