This issue results from qualitative empirical research in progress, including observations and interviews in the field, combined with a literature review. It intends to describe how the filter of General Repercussion, introduced in Brazilian Federal Constitution by the Amendment nº 45/2004, as admissibility assumption of Extraordinary Appeals by the Supreme Court, has been applied. The aim is to identify and describe the criterion used for deciding upon the existence of general repercussion in the cases judged by this Court and the procedures followed to this end. It also intends to foment reflections upon the perplexities evidenced in the research.
