Determination of health workers' level of knowledge about blood transfusion
Abstract
INTRODUCTION[|]This study was conducted to determine the level of knowledge according to transfusion in the blood of health workers.[¤]METHODS[|]The study was conducted with 100 health personnel working in a training and research hospital between 01.10.2015 - 02.11.2015. Questionnaire consisting of 19 questions in the light of the literature on the collection of data in the study. Fisher's exact Chi-square test and continuity (Yates) correction was used and the significance was assessed at p <0.05.[¤]RESULTS[|]52% of the participants were working at 29 and 6 years of age, 94% were women, 71% were nurses and 42% were in institutions for 2-5 years. Of the participants, 79% were trained in blood and blood product transfusion, 86% were transfused with blood volume, 95% had requested blood, and 97% had to be hospitalized for transfusion. 78% of respondents identified the cross-match by the final control of transceiver ABO compliance. 98% of employees are deteriorated in blood bag integrity and the road time cannot be read; 90% will return the blood if the blood basin is cloudy or foamy; 96% reported that in the event of fever and shock, the blood would consider the reaction due to transfusion. 91% of employees have risen or need confirmation of the patient's identity bracelet and blood products; 85% stated that no other medication should be put into the blood. Eighty-eight percent of those participating in the study reported that transfusion training for blood and blood products should be continuous.[¤]DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION[|]In line with the results obtained in the research; Implementation of standardization studies for blood transfusion, more frequent in-service training for patient safety and medical malpractice.[¤]
