This paper shows the results obtained in the research project "New test method to determine single layer and dual layer terrazzo tile absorption". Different test methods results are shown including the Instituto Colombiano de Normas Técnicas (ICONTEC) NTC 2849-1997 and variations in test time and procedure. Multivariate st atistical models were used for data analysis. 37 samples including single and duallayer terrazzo tiles were tested. Terrazzo samples were obtained from four different manufacturing companies located in Medellín (Colombia). It was found that test time variation above the one specifiedin NTC 2849 standard procedure leads to significance differences in absorption values in statistical terms. Perhaps, there are no significant variations in magnitude to consider further modification sin product standards if test time is modified. Stabilization of absorption values above 24h of immersion -including lh initial boiling- and the response found in both material conformations lead to consider apply the same procedure and test time to determine terrazzo upper layer water absorption.
