ODOURATIVE VOCABULARY: CLASSIFICATION, STRUCTURE, SEMANTICS (BASED ON THE WORKS OF IRENE ROZDOBUDKO)
Abstract
The article comprehensively studied vocabulary to describe the smell in the modern Ukrainian language; presented classification of smell; characterized thematic group names to describe the smell; analysis of lexical-semantic and structural-grammatical peculiarities of tokens to describe the smell and found stylistic functions, expressive-figurative potential nominations in this category of I. Rozdobudko's works. It is known that a person perceives the surrounding reality with the help the external senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste. Tactile human world is reflected in his mind, it is evaluated and is embodied in language and formed into images, which arise from the impressions, moods and associations. All this gives rise to the verbal designation of smell, because all the smells associated with emotions and can influence way of thinking. Smells, inherent to the person accompanying the natural phenomena, the events of life are reflected not only in psychology, sociology, philosophy, literature, but also in the language of writers, which show the art world through the linguistic resources. The theme of our of article related to the study of functioning in texts Irene Rozdobudko's vocabulary, transmitting its lexical semantics explicitly or implicitly «smell». Touches upon the problems of the study of individual linguistic world of the writer, her sensual piece, reflected by means of a nomination and predication, as well as their means of explication – «olfactory words» as elements of aesthetic system of I. Rozdobudko. It is important to study the words themselves and with the semantics of «smell» in the language in general, their classification in modern linguistics, their place in modern linguistics, etc. The smell in the artistic use - this is nomination, which is perceived in context, so it is different semantics and semantic certainty and specific lexical-semantic variant. Thus, the vocabulary, indicating smell has an individual semantics, defines the meaning of context, language speaks means displays the aesthetic credo of the writer.
