La conservation-restauration au cœur de la problématique archéologique
Abstract
Among the cultural heritage for which preservation, conservation and restoration work, the archaeological heritage presents specificities: its scientific character and its sometimes very advanced degradations. These particularities condition the actions of conservation-restoration in this field. This article tries to define what “archaeological object” represents for the conservation professionals through its heritage and scientific values, and endeavors to explain how conservation in archeology is a thoughtful process and built for archeology, and which goes beyond the technical aspects of the discipline. Concrete answers can be provided by means of the conservation operating chain, at the heart of which the conservator-restorer progresses.
