Purpose. To study the relationship between a person’s self-concept and their interests and fulfillment in the four spheres of life: communication, resources, cognition and power. Work method/methodology. For this purpose, we used an originally authored methodology for the identification of personality types as per the A. Afanasyev's typology and a questionnaire that the authors designed to identify person's interests, preferences and desires, and calculated the point-biserial correlation coefficient. Findings. The research ascertained a statistically significant correlation between person's perceptions of their potency and their interest in fulfilling in the four spheres of life: communication, resources, cognition and power. We found that there is a positive correlation between a person's self-esteem concerning the four spheres and a corresponding level of their ambition, as well as between the number of intrapersonal conflicts in a sphere and a strategy of these conflicts' resolution. Application of the findings. The suggested psychoanalysis-based typology will benefit recruiters and other helping profession specialists, who will be able to quickly evaluate person's childhood experiences and their prospects for fulfillment in a given capacity.
