This work outlines the main features of the different maternage styles existing in the world. Its purpose is to provide the workers which are engaged in emergency and crisis contexts with different roles some theoretic and practical guidelines to support young children and their parents in the best way, as they are living the hardest period of their life and mutual relationship. The present article adopts a intercultural viewpoint and provides a journey through the different practices of child care and parenting in several cultural contexts. This article joins the philosophy which affirms that protecting health in the various emergency contexts means working to promote the psychophysical well-being of the people involved, especially the younger ones.
