OS INTELECTUAIS, A MILITÂNCIA NEGRA, A IGREJA E OS QUILOMBOLAS NA LUTA POR DIREITOS
Abstract
In this article, we discuss on the role of intellectuals, black militants and the Catholic Church in the struggle of the quilombola population in Maranhão for access to social rights. The objective is to analyze how these subjects participated in a process of building truths and knowledge about the quilombola populations, displacing hierarchical and racist knowledge historically built on them. To do so, we used several sources, such as newspapers, anthropological reports, books, articles and other academic-scientific productions. This discussion will be carried out based on an archeogenealogical approach of the discourse, by Michel Foucault, characterized as a historical investigation about the intertwining of knowledge, power and ethics in the constitution of the subject. We concluded that the emergence of the quilombola identity for the inhabitants of these communities occurred through contact with knowledge mediated by the researchers, activists and members of the church who helped them in the solution of lands conflicts.
