Graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) was utilized to improve shape recovery rate (Rr) of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) by compression molding technology. The results show that the melting temperature (Tm) and crystallinity of specimens are decreased, while the mechanical property is improved significantly. Additionally, shape memory behavior of UHMWPE nanocomposites is improved effectively, and the optimal shape memory effect with the shape fixity ratio (Rf) of about 95% and the Rr of about 97% was obtained. Meanwhile, the relationship among shape memory characteristics and microstructure, thermal and mechanical properties was analyzed. Besides, two kinds of shape memory testing methods, the bending test with a custom technique and the cyclic tensile test under DMA controlled strain mode, obtained the same trend and different values of Rf and Rr.
