Le non-recours aux aides aux vacances en Martinique
Abstract
The research conducted in Martinique in 2010-2012 aimed to understand the raisons of the non take-up of social benefits for low income families and children’s leisure activities during holidays, allocated by a social public organism (Family welfare). In a sociological perspective, data were collected through observation, statistics and semi-structured interviews with families. The results identifies the non recipient’s characteristics and permit to understand that the non take-up can be due to a lack of information, challenging the links between social organism and citizens. This analysis contributes in reflection about public policy evaluation and debates about the relationships between overseas population and national social State.
