Natural cationic polymers: origin, properties and therapeutic applications

Abstract

Abstract Natural cationic polymer has remained of great interest to researchers in drug delivery as well as other fields. Their easy availability, flexible properties and biocompatibility make them favorable candidates for therapeutic use. This review is mainly focused on natural cationic polymers with emphasis on their origin, types, different properties and use in drug delivery. Some progress made in the fields of drug as well as gene delivery and tissue engineering applications have been also discussed.
