System Transformations of Library and Information Processes

Abstract

The purpose of the article is the analysis of system transformations in the librarysphere of activity, the state of the implementation of information technologies in theactivities of libraries and their use to improve subscriber service, the introduction of intelligent services designed for the effective presentation of knowledge, the development of electronic information resources as a priority direction, which determines the entry of a modern library into integrated information space (on the example of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine (NBUV)). Research methods. The research is based on systemic and structural approaches, methods of comparative and logical analysis, theoretical-methodological and interdisciplinary studies of library activity in the conditions of globalization of economic processes.The scientific novelty consists in analyzing the main tasks of optimizing the functioning of libraries in the information society; presentations of new organizational forms of system transformation of library and information processes; presentation of approaches and technologies for the creation of electronic libraries using the example of the development and organization of electronic information resources of the NBUU, presentation of the results of the implementation of service-oriented information and resource systems using the example of electronic full-text information products of the NBUU. Conclusions. It should be noted that the systemic transformations of library and information institutions at the stage of informatization of society led to changes in their functions from document storage to those that provide access to global resources and the creation of thei rown information products. The result of optimization and system transformations in library activities are corporate systems, electronic libraries, media libraries, the formation of a remote reader service system, etc. All this ensures the placement of own information resources in the virtual space and user service regardless of their location and time.
