Cyclosporine A (CsA), an immune-suppressive agent, is effective in the treatment of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU). It is recommended as the three-line treatment for chronic urticaria and for patients with severe disease refractory to antihistamine treatment by the Guideline for the diagnosis and the treatment of urticaria in China (2018). However, there is still no consensus on the mechanisms, dosing and safety of cyclosporine A. This article will review the mechanisms, dosing, response prediction and safety of cyclosporine A in the treatment of CSU.
