The article considers children’s musical folklore in ethnographic and repertoire collections of the second half of the 19th century. The ethnographic collections of P. A. Bessonov, P. V. Shein, V. F. Kudryavtsev, A. I. Rubts are analyzed from the point of view of collecting, using into the everyday life, theoretical understanding and application in folk pedagogy. Authentic samples of children’s folklore are revealed in the repertoire collections for kindergartens by M. A. Mamontova and M. T. Solovyova, N. H. Wessel and E. K. Albrecht in the arrangements by composers of that time or by the compilers themselves. In the article conclusion it is stated that during this historical period, the attention of musicians to the education of younger generations on the basis of time-tested examples of children’s folklore has increased. There is a growing interest in collecting and studying children’s musical folklore and compiling repertoire collections. Attempts are being made to comprehend scientifically children’s folklore regarding its classification.
