Abstract
Reading Luchino Visconti’s artistic experience by performative categories involves the need to consider the relationship between the texts and the public like an essential part of his poethic. Shocking the spectators and induce them to reflection and reaction, thus, can be investigated even as an inspiring motive of the opera, in historical-cultural perspective (from Ossessione, 1943, to Tanto tempo fa, 1973), rather than as a marginal consequence.
