Abstract
The article is to understand the elderly’s perceptions and practices about hypertension and factors affecting these perceptions and practices. Moreover, the report also provides insight into hypertension between the elderly and medical doctors. Since then, we recommend a few solutions for doctors in counseling, examining, and treating hypertension for the elderly. The research is designed in a qualitative approach. We recruited a total of 28 older people and 02 medical doctors. There were 20 older people getting in-depth interview and 08 people attending focus group discussion. Research findings show that there are some different perceptions of hypertension management between the elderly and doctors. Although the elderly in the study received treatment, some elderly did not take drugs regularly, changed medications themselves without following doctors' instructions, or did not actively change daily living habits. Several influencing factors to these perceptions include media communication, family and personal experiences.
