Abstract

The relations between Romain Rolland and communism cannot be considered independently from the spiritual question. L’Annonciatrice, the last part of L’Âme enchantée, offers a succession of portraits that show the complex relationship between the individual self and the cosmic self. Thus the question of the heroic action to change the world turns the work of art into a work of faith.
