This study investigates the transformative impact of a twelve-month internship program on multidisciplinary communication skills within maritime education, specifically focusing on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues. Seven senior cadets participated in rigorous training in professional port and shipping environments, demonstrating significant improvements in speaking, listening, interpersonal communication, and adaptability across diverse cultural and ESG-related contexts. The findings underscore the program’s efficacy in preparing cadets for global maritime challenges while emphasizing the critical role of communication skills in promoting sustainable practices and ethical leadership. Future research is suggested to involve broader sample sizes and longitudinal studies to evaluate long-term career impacts.
