Abstract

Dental care involves more than treatment of consequences of disease, repairing when necessary, and monitoring the restored state to ensure that health maintained. Placing a restoration in tooth does not offer immunity on the tooth and new disease can occur. A restoration can fail because of new disease or technical failure. Failure may be minor, requiring only monitoring or, if major, repair or placement of restoration. To maintain dental health and restored teeth, restoration should be checked regularly for evaluation, but the patient should control their diet to reduce plaque accumulation, and to minimize risk factor.
