Ubá a hot city? An observed and perceived climate study
Abstract
This study aimed to understand the social construction of the climate perception of the inhabitants of the cities of Viscount Rio Branco, Ubá and Tocantins, drawing a parallel with the information acquired through thermal images, seeking to elucidate or even contribute to a better understanding of urban climate perception. Therefore, a questionnaire was applied to students from schools in the cities studied in order to identify their climate perception. In addition, through geoprocessing techniques, thermal images of the landsat 8 sensor were analyzed for a period of one year in order to compare with the answers obtained through the questionnaire. From the analysis of the data it is evidenced a certain homogeneity between the observed temperatures, distancing from the information obtained by the questionnaire, which elects Ubá as the hottest city. The result shows that although there is no significant difference between the maximum and minimum observed from thermal images, due to climate perception and all the variables that this concept carries, the perception is inherent in each one and occurs according to experiences, knowledge, desire and personality of each individual.
