Écrire l’amour comme moyen de subsistance et de revendication au XIXe siècle : Georges de Peyrebrune et la thématique sentimentale

Abstract

Love is one of the fundamental themes of universal literature, and it was also one of the most preferred themes of the 19th century female novelists. In this work, we will analyse the factors which explain the supposed trend towards the subject of love during this time. For this, we will refer to Georges de Peyrebrune as an example, a late 19th century French novelist for whom writing about love provided a way of making a living, and additionally a means of protesting against inequality between men and women.
