High-purity quartz, famous for low impurities and high purity, has been widely used in optical fiber communication, photovoltaic, aerospace, semiconductor display and other high-tech industries. Fluid inclusions, either derived from primary ore-forming fluids or captured by quartz in late geological actions, are typical fluid impurities in crystal quartz. In particular, some small gas and liquid inclusions encapsulated in quartz crystals are difficult to be separated effectively by conventional mineral processing techniques. In this paper, the basic characteristics of fluid inclusions in high purity quartz are described in detail, and the current status of fluid inclusions activation and separation technology is summarized. Based on the research progress of the basic theory of high-purity quartz in China in recent years, some scientific suggestions on the basic theory of high-purity quartz in China are put forward.
